How the RAF drew up plans to attack Argentina over the Falklands in 1982 – Telegraph.

Reading about the war in the Falklands I was surprised by how much trouble the British had defeating Argentina.  I know that they the disadvantage of having to fight thousands of miles away while Argentina was right next door but come on guys it’s just Argentina!  What would’ve happened if they ever had to go up against a first class adversary like the Soviet Union?

  1. Great Britain has a population somewhere around 60 million and Argentina has about 40 million. The Brits have been steadily shrinking their military budget starting before the Falklands war. Argentina at that time was ruled by the military and had a pretty strong military organization (helped out by generous aid and surplus stuff from the US). So, it’s no surprise that they were stiff competition for the Brits.
