This video is an account of an incident that happened to a jump pilot a few years ago in Australia. It’s a diver driver’s worst nightmare an open parachute over the tail. After watching it you’ll understand why I wear a rig when flying jumpers.
oh you meant a skydivers reserve chute, I thought you meant the pilots emergency chute. No there is no cut away on a jumpers reserve, that’s probably why the jumper caught on the tail died. Even if he could get free he would have to dump his main into the shredded reserve and it would most likely malfunction. Crappy way to go.
Sorry I probably didn’t understand the story, I thought the jumper that had his reserve open-up was the one hanging on the elevator and wondered if those chutes had a disconnect (assuming the poor guy was conscious and able).

No Marc, if we put a cutaway on a rig with no reserve that might not end well. Pilots are not all that bright.

Holy … crap. BTW, does an emergency chute have a “release”?
